Description
The sculpture visualizes Kaaba, the most sacred site of Islam in Mecca, and its surrounding terrain. A green bow-tied piece of yarn, alluding to the symbol of the opposition to the 2010 Iranian Presidential elections, marks the exact location of Kaaba. This work depicts a conflict of mind and heart felt by many young Iranians: a nation that bears tremendous responsibility in the Islamic world by standing against imperialism, and a state that imposes tremendous control over its people.
